socialmediahansolo Did you know that Chewbacca loves to cook? You could even say he is something of a Wookiee Foodie and serves up some seriously awesome meals on the Millenium Falcon. I recently learned that Chewie has his own food blog when he was complaining about how none of the other chefs around the galaxy were taking his recipes and posts seriously. He was also confused as to why he was having trouble getting new visitors to his site. When he told me the link to his blog I immediately knew what the problem was. The big 7 foot tall fuzzball from Kashyyyk was doing all of his blogging at WookieFoodieChewie.GalaxyBloggerWebZone.com.
He was having trouble with new visitors finding his work because many of these free blog hosting sites are not SEO friendly which causes problems when the search engines (Google, Yahoo, Bing, etc) index them. His perception problems with restaurant industry professionals stemmed from his not owning a personal domain name. A lot of people around the galaxy have a preconceived notion that if you don’t take the energy and money to purchase your own domain name then your content is not legitimate and worth reading. Considering that you can purchase a domain name for under $10 a year (I’ve seen some galactic registrars selling them for less than $5) and the majority of these free hosted blog sites now allowing you to use a personal domain name, there really is no reason why bloggers shouldn’t have their own.
Well, Chewbacca took ol Social Media Han Solo’s advice and moved his blog onto his own domain where he could also control and enhance the search engine optimization of the site. Sure enough, he has been steadily gaining new followers and will even be featured on the Galactic Food Network. I may soon be looking for a new co-pilot on the Millenium Falcon if his cooking career takes off. Anyone out there interested in the job?
